On Thursday, December 7th, over two dozen New Jersey community advocacy organizations came together for the People United for Justice Rally in Trenton. We were present on the steps of the State House to rally and lobby for the People’s Lame Duck Agenda for New Jersey.
The December 7th rally follows a November 8th coordinated action, when representatives of our United For Justice coalition hand-delivered our People’s Lame Duck Agenda to the office of every state senator and assembly person.
Our shared agenda for the lame duck—i.e. the period between November elections and the start of the new two-year legislative session in January—”includes support for bills that would expand transparency and accountability in policing; make democracy more accessible and inclusive; build a fair and welcoming state for all people regardless of their immigration status; break down barriers to abortion access and ensure the expansion of necessary reproductive health care for LGBTQ+ families; protect trans students’ rights; and more.” (source: ACLU New Jersey)
