“A vote is a kind of prayer for the kind of world we desire for ourselves and for our children, and I think our prayers are stronger when we pray together.” — Rev. Raphael Warnock
Next Tuesday is Election Day. It is a pivotal moment for our country, and a day that likely carries some combination of hope, anxiety, and grief for our country.
First, cast your vote like a prayer. Then, ground yourself and surround yourself in your communities, relationships, and signs of hope big and small.
Right now, I am finding hope in all that our coalition partnerships and dedicated volunteers are accomplishing here in New Jersey:
- Just this week, the advancement of four bills from the “Reproductive Freedom and Health Equity Bill Package” endorsed by our Thrive NJ coalition.
- Our rallying behind the recently introduced “Climate Superfund Act,” a form of climate reparations that would hold fossil fuel extractors and refiners liable for damages.
- Mobilization around the newly introduced “Immigrant Trust Act,” landmark legislation that would strengthen privacy protections and empower immigrant New Jerseyans to participate fully in our communities without fear of deportation.
- Our upcoming “2nd Chance NJ Lobby Day” in Trenton on November 14. We will come together to focus attention on the Rehabilitative Release bill for incarcerated seniors.
If you, too, find hope in all we accomplish together, please consider a sustaining gift of any size, so that we might continue to be a voice for UU values and to build a more compassionate society in New Jersey.
#GivingTuesday is December 3rd, and our #GivingTuesday campaign begins today. Join us with a recurring or one-time gift at uufaithaction.org/
