“The divine future breaks into the present with each thorny act of justice.” — Rev. Emilie Townes
Like laughter at a funeral, or wildflowers pushing through cracked pavement, outbreaks of celebration and justice-making continue amidst lament.
This month, we celebrated our one year anniversary of First Fridays Action Hour! Since November 2023, we have together made 224 phone calls and sent 296 emails during our monthly Action Hours.
How did we celebrate? By gathering on Zoom to once again educate and mobilize ourselves (this month around restorative justice) and to take action together.
When we gather for Action Hour, we make an impact on…
- …our representatives. It only takes half a dozen calls for key decision makers in Trenton to start asking, “what’s with this bill that has my phone ringing off the hook!?”
- …our partnerships. By inviting guest speakers from our coalition partner organizations and uplifting the issue priorities of directly-impacted communities, we strengthen our interdependent relationships.
- …ourselves, by exercising our deeply-held values and flexing our civic engagement.
To support the good work that we can only accomplish together, please consider a sustaining gift of any size. Come hell or high water, we are committed to giving life the shape of justice—in defiant, sacred acts big and small—in our gathering and in our action together.
#GivingTuesday is December 3rd, and our #GivingTuesday campaign is all November. Join us with a recurring or one-time gift at uufaithaction.org/givingtuesday-2024
