Summer Intern Reflection

By Taylor Epps, Criminal Justice Reform Summer Intern

My experience working as an intern for UU FaithAction NJ has been eye-opening.

When I started my college career, I never intended to receive  a master’s degree, especially not in Nonprofit Management, but it was the route I ended up taking. After my first semester of studying nonprofits, I knew I wanted to incorporate this type of organization into my career field.

Reproductive Justice Task Force Launches Postcard Campaign

Coming to a UU congregation near you—our Reproductive Justice Task Force has launched a Postcard Campaign for Reproductive Equity, and we need all-hands-on-deck to distribute, sign and stamp postcards!

Postcard campaigns build a steady, strong voice to back a stagnant piece of legislation.  The Reproductive Equity Act (S2918/A4350) is a top priority of reproductive justice advocates across the state.  To move this legislation forward, we don’t need an urgent, one-time action: we need a steady, incessant stream of support.

Glad for my caravan of hardy “fools”

How does your congregation share joys and concerns?  In UU communities large and small, I have seen our hopes and lamentations lifted up from the pulpit, or popcorn-style from a roving microphone, or silently carried up with tealight smoke.  As children in Religious Education we would share in a circle, the Big Milestones and Big Worries nestled right up next to the “small” milestones and “frivolous” joys.

Repro Justice Task Force Commends Reproductive Healthcare in 2023 Budget

By Jami Thall, Reproductive Justice Task Force Co-Chair,
and Mia Morse, UU FaithAction NJ Board President

As Unitarian Universalists, our faith calls us to advocate on behalf of all those who need ready access to safe, legal abortion care whenever and wherever they need it.  Access to abortion and the right to choose is an issue of gender equality, bodily autonomy, and religious liberty, all of which are long held Unitarian Universalist religious teachings.  We are committed to defending these principles here in NJ and across the country.

Join UUFANJ at the 61st Annual UUA General Assembly!

General Assembly (GA) is the annual meeting of our Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA). Participants worship, witness, learn, connect, and make policy for the Association through democratic process.

UU FaithAction NJ staff, volunteers, and supporters will be present at General Assembly this year, in Portland and in the virtual space, and we would love to see you there!

Repro Justice Task Force Supports Murphy’s Abortion Access Proposals

By Jami Thall, Reproductive Justice Task Force Co-Chair

On May 12, 2022, in response to the leaked draft SCOTUS opinion that would essentially overturn Roe v Wade, Governor Murphy introduced a package of proposals designed to strengthen access to abortion care here in NJ.  The proposal includes the following:
