Beacon Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Summit has created a supporting organization – Beacon Hope and Equity Center – to build equity and establish justice. Our mission is to decolonize wealth.
Over the last two years, we’ve been able to donate thousands of dollars in micro-grants to create immediate relief to individuals struggling with food and housing insecurity. We’ve also forgiven over $2 million dollars of medical debt across New Jersey and created a $25,000 matching grant for the Summit Interfaith Council’s relief fund for undocumented individuals and their families. And we are just getting started.
On September 24th, we honor the community organizers who are daily deliverers of justice and creators of hope in action. These community organizers build vital trust and power to create lasting change. Beacon Hope and Equity Center would not be able to lead our microgrant program without community organizers like those listed below who we will honor.
