This webinar delves into the intricate relationship between immigration and mental health, exploring the multifaceted challenges faced by immigrants as they navigate new cultural landscapes. Licensed psychotherapist Dr. Christine Coleman will help participants gain insights into the psychological impacts of migration, including stress, trauma, identity crisis, and cultural adaptation. The session will highlight the unique mental health needs of immigrant populations, emphasizing the importance of culturally sensitive support systems and accessible mental health services.

Through a blend of research, case studies, and personal narratives, this webinar aims to foster a deeper understanding of the mental health issues prevalent among immigrants and provide strategies for building supportive communities and effective mental health interventions. Join us as we bridge minds across borders and advocate for the mental well-being of all individuals, regardless of their origin.

After the presentation, there will be an opportunity for Q&A. This webinar will be recorded and posted on our website and YouTube channel after the webinar has ended.

SPEAKER BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Christine Coleman is the Founder and CEO of POC Thriving, a private practice specializing in the intersection of mental health and diversity, equity, and inclusion. Dr. Coleman holds 15 years of clinical training, predominantly in service to marginalized communities. Dr. Coleman’s current practice prioritizes the psychological and emotional well-being of BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, people of color) professionals. Dr. Coleman also supports companies and organizations with mental health, inclusivity, and belonging initiatives so they can better prioritize the psychological well-being and retention of employees, particularly those of color. Dr. Coleman has trained leading companies like Pinterest, Business Wire, Coursera, Udemy, Mulesoft by Salesforce, and the Major League Baseball Network. Dr. Coleman has been a featured contributor to prestigious media outlets including Harvard Business Review, Fast Company, Vogue, MSN, and Huffington Post. Dr. Coleman is an internationally recognized speaker and has spoken at Yale’s Mental Health Conference, UC Berkeley’s Women of Color Conference, the American College Health Association (ACHA), and more.

Dr. Coleman received the University of San Francisco’s “Living the Mission” award for her dedication to serving women and girls. Dr. Coleman is the Founder and Executive Director of Sol Sisters Inc., a nonprofit with a mission to help women overcome societal barriers by providing educational and empowering experiences that promote personal and professional evolution.

Dr. Coleman holds a B.S. in Psychology from Azusa Pacific University, a Master’s in Counseling Psychology from the University of San Francisco, a license to practice Marriage and Family Therapy in California, and a Ph.D in Marriage and Family Therapy from Eastern University.
