Issues

I want to be with people who submerge in the task, who go into to the fields to harvest and work in a row
And pass the bags along, who are not parlor generals and field deserters but move in a common rhythm
When the food must come in or the fire be put out — Marge Piercy

From Issues to Actions

UU FaithAction NJ focus

From its inception, UU FaithAction has recognized the importance of limiting its focus in order to dedicate strategic, sustained attention to crucial social action causes in New Jersey.  In community, UU FaithAction chooses specific issues for education, research, advocacy, witness and service.

UU FaithAction NJ takes positions that are consonant with the values expressed in UUA and General Assembly social witness statements.

Task Forces

UU FaithAction currently has four Task Forces aligned around our legislative priorities.

  • Environment – As Unitarian Universalists we are called upon to affirm and promote ‘respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.
  • Reproductive Justice – UU FaithAction, representing the Unitarian Universalist congregations in New Jersey, stands together in faith to demand a system that provides adequate health care and treatment for all, including reproductive justice for all people.
  • Immigration Reform – UU FaithAction supports our immigrant neighbors.
  • Criminal Justice Reform – Mass incarceration and the deprivation of human civil rights are disproportionately focused on people of color.

Each fall, these Task Forces convene to determine where their efforts will be focused for the following legislative year.  Throughout the year, the Task Forces collaborate with coalition partner organizations, particularly those led by impacted communities, and the Task Forces lead Unitarian Universalists in action.
